VeronIKA is the main inkling used in promotional materials, typically being depicted as the player character. Her appearance is shared with the Splatoon 3 inkling Amiibo, and her top and shoes are the default starting gear.

While otherwise identical in appearance, most official renders of Agent 3 have a noticably darker skintone, and have her wearing the baggy sweatpants, rather than the classic spats. An inkling resembling Agent 3 in the default starter gear is also depicted on the Tri-Stringer Tableturf card.

She is also the basis for Mitsuami in the Splatoon manga, with almost no visual changes, aside from being paler than most depictions of Veronika.

Hiro is the main octoling used in promotional materials, and shares his appearance with the Splatoon 3 octoling Amiibo. He also appears on the .96 Gal Tableturf card.

While most depictions of Agent 3 resemble Veronika, an octoling near identical to hiro can be seen as Agent 3 on the cover of "The art of Splatoon 3", though again with baggy sweatpants rather than the classic spats.

Hiro is also the basis for Ocho in the Splatoon manga, with almost no visual changes.

Interestingly, while in-game and in 2d promotional art Yuka is paler than Takeru, in one render that predates this art, Yuka and Takeru had the same skintone.
